DB Developer to DBA ??

Dear all,

I have been working in MS SQL Server for around 6 years ( versions : 7.0 and 2000 ). I have been extensively involved in database design and development. I have not much involved much in administrative activites.

I need to know what are the core activities which makes a Database Developer as a complete DBA ?

Thanks in advance,

Hari Haran ArulmozhiThe complete dba is a hard thing to find and a harder to thing to define, but what I think you are looking for is the fact that the adminitrative or production dba is someone who knows a bit more about the hardware\OS\networking end of things and has a thorough understanding of disaster recovery and keeping SQL Server running optimally in the live environments and can troubleshoot any number of situations. They also tend be a bit better with the SQL Sever bells and whistles (like replication and dts) than the straight up sql developer. I try to stay knowledgeable on both sides of this somewhat specious dichotomy (college words for blindman's sake), but I enjoy the developer end of duties a bit more.|||Hi Sean Roussy,

Thanks for your response.
