DB Server in DMZ

I have a DB server tht is in the DMZ. The application server is also in the
DMZ. The dev team wants to implement Sql quthentication because with windows
authentication they will have to maintain windows users on 2 machines.
Comments, Suggestions?
If its in the DMZ its true, beacuase of not having (normally) a connection
to your Domain Controller to check the WIndows Idendities. If your Server
would be in your Lan and NATted through the DMZ this could be a choice.
